Vang Vieng is a small idyllic riverside town on the road from Vientiane to Luang Prabang. It is located in an area of beautiful karst formations, the classic South-East Asian views that dip into lovely greys and mauves as the sun sets behind them and, in front, the Nam Song River turns black with colors rippling in its reflections. Vang Vieng is an excellent combination of adventure and relaxation. Though hardcore tubing is no longer available, the Nam Song River still offers enjoyable activities such as kayaking.

1st Choice: SLEEPER BUS HANOI TO VANG VIENG LAOS

1. There are no buses that run directly from Hanoi to Vang Vieng
2. There are 3 ways to get to Vang Vieng from Hanoi
2.1 You should book a bus ticket from Hanoi to Vientiane (The bus will stop at Dong Dok bus station, Vientiane). Then you take a Minivan from Vientiane to Vang Vieng
- The bus departs from Hanoi at 17.30 - The shuttle bus picks you up from Hanoi Old Quarter at 15.30. The bus will arrive Vientiane around 16.00 the next day.
- From Vientiane bus station, you get on a Minivan to Vang Vieng departing at 18h00 (110km - 2 hours by Highway).

NOTE: If you have time to stay in Vientiane for a few days, you should book a high-speed train ticket from Vientiane to Vang Vieng with only 1 hour.

2.2 You can choose book a bus ticket from Hanoi to Luangprabang, then from Luangprabang you can book a bus ticket to Vang Vieng or you should book a high-speed train ticket from Luangprabang to Vang Vieng (only 1 hour by train)

Change to take the train from Muang Xai at 4:30 p.m. on Day 2 to Vang Vieng at 7:00 p.m.
